Clay Township Military Library and Museum
The Clay Township Military Library & Museum was founded by veterans, is sustained by veterans, and honors all veterans. Located right here in Carmel at 10801 N. College Ave., our museum houses incredible exhibits, artifacts, and stories spanning generations of military service.
We are looking for dedicated community members to help us manage our collections and keep our doors open to the public. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a meticulous organizer, or looking to gain experience in museum studies and archiving, we have a vital role for you.
Key Volunteer Roles
- Museum Operations & Guest Experience - Welcome visitors, lead exhibit tours, and assist with daily opening, closing, and floor setup to ensure a smooth guest experience.
- Inventory & Collections Management - Count, inspect, and track newly donated items and exhibit materials—from uniforms to patches—to enure everything is accurately cataloged, properly labeled, and safely stored.
- Archiving & Material Preservation - Digitize, catalog, and carefully store vintage photographs, documents, and historic books using acid-free materials to build an easily searchable digital archive.
- Commitment & Perks - Enjoy flexible scheduling and hands-on training in artifact handling—no experience required—while wearing your Volunteer Carmel polo and playing a tangible role in honoring our veterans' history.
