Role Overview - Diwali Festival of Lights Swagat Committee
As a member of the Swagat Committee, you are the "face of the festival" and the first point of contact for all guests. Your role is to embody a welcoming spirit by providing a warm, traditional, and organized welcome to everyone entering the Festival of Lights
Key Responsibilities
Traditional Greetings: Welcome guests at the entrance with a warm "Namaste" or "Happy Diwali," potentially assisting with traditional welcoming gestures like applying a small tilak (vermilion mark) or handing out floral garlands.
Wayfinding & Orientation: Act as a human compass, guiding attendees toward key attractions such as the main stage, the Rangoli displays, food stalls, or restrooms.
Program Distribution: Ensure every guest receives a festival map or program guide, highlighting the schedule of performances and ceremonies so they don’t miss a moment.
Cultural Ambassadorship: Provide a welcoming "primer" on the festival’s meaning—celebrating the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance—to ensure all community members feel included.
Crowd Flow Management: Monitor entrance capacity and queue lines to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient entry process for the thousands of guests expected.
Who You Are
The Ultimate Host: You have a radiant personality and a natural talent for making strangers feel like honored guests.
High Energy: You enjoy being "on" and active, as you are the primary source of enthusiasm for the event.
Proactive Problem Solver: You can think on your feet to help guests find what they need in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Culturally Mindful: You are eager to represent Indian hospitality and the City of Carmel with grace and respect.
