On Saturday, April 18, 2026, thousands of runners from across the country will take to our streets to chase personal bests and Boston Marathon qualifying times. This massive community undertaking requires a "village" of 500 volunteers to ensure every athlete, from the elite marathoner to the 5K walker, has a safe and world-class experience.

Whether you’re a local resident, a student looking for service hours, or just a fan of the high-octane energy of race day, there is a vital spot for you on our crew.

From the behind-the-scenes prep to the final finish line cheers, choose a shift that fits your vibe:

The Expo (Pre-Race): Be the first point of contact! Assist with packet pickup, t-shirt distribution, and guest services at the vendor fair.

Race Logistics: Help with the "heavy lifting" including gear check, transportation coordination, and start-line setup.

On the Course: Join the heart of the action! Serve at Aid Stations (water/electrolyte distribution) or act as a Course Marshal to cheer runners and ensure they stay on the correct path.

Carmel Citizens for a Cleaner City is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our frontline efforts in keeping our community pristine. Our goal is simple but vital: To remove motorists' discarded litter from our streets, thereby improving the City's cleanliness and health.

We are seeking proactive two-person teams to take ownership of specific sections of Carmel’s primary roads. This is a hands-on role dedicated to reclaiming our streets from transit-related waste.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

Debris Removal: Teams will cover a designated route to remove plastic and glass bottles, cans, fast food waste, and larger items such as hubcaps and commercial packaging (where possible).

Route Selection: At our Introductory Meeting, teams will use a new app and/or physical maps to choose their specific territory.

Example: Team A may choose 136th Street (Towne Rd to Springmill Ave), while Team B selects River Road (116th St to 146th St).

Waste Disposal: Volunteers have the option to weigh and place collected items in their personal recycling bins or deliver the haul to a designated central location for weighing.

Friendly Competition: Teams can choose to compete for the "Most Trash Collected" title, with potential awards for our top cleaners.

Community Service Credit: All hours can be officially documented through your Volunteer Portal. This is an excellent way to earn "credit" for class projects, scouting badges, or community service requirements.

Direct Impact: You aren't just cleaning a street; you are protecting Carmel’s health and maintaining the high standards of our world-class community.

As a Tear Down & Clean Up volunteer, you are the finishing touch that ensures our community spaces return to their pristine condition. This is a high-energy, "behind-the-scenes" role perfect for someone who enjoys physical activity, working as part of a team, and seeing immediate results. You will work closely with City Staff to efficiently pack up event logistics and leave the venue better than we found it.

Vendor & Station Load-Out: Assist event staff and vendors with light breakdown of stations, which may include folding chairs, collapsing tables, and organizing supplies.

Site Restoration: Help clear event debris and ensure the festival grounds are tidy, safe, and ready for public use the following morning.
