The City of Carmel's Neighborhood Pop-Up Parties are designed to build a stronger, more connected community—one district at a time. These high-energy, one-hour events travel to different districts across the city, providing a space for neighbors to meet, chat with city officials, and enjoy their local green spaces. By bringing the party directly to the people, we celebrate the unique spirit of every Carmel neighborhood.

Pick the dates and locations that work best for you! All volunteer shifts run from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (covering setup, the event, and teardown).

Carmel Citizens for a Cleaner City is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our frontline efforts in keeping our community pristine. Our goal is simple but vital: To remove motorists' discarded litter from our streets, thereby improving the City's cleanliness and health.

We are seeking proactive two-person teams to take ownership of specific sections of Carmel’s primary roads. This is a hands-on role dedicated to reclaiming our streets from transit-related waste.

Debris Removal: Teams will cover a designated route to remove plastic and glass bottles, cans, fast food waste, and larger items such as hubcaps and commercial packaging (where possible).

Route Selection: At our Introductory Meeting, teams will use a new app and/or physical maps to choose their specific territory.

Example: Team A may choose 136th Street (Towne Rd to Springmill Ave), while Team B selects River Road (116th St to 146th St).

Waste Disposal: Volunteers have the option to weigh and place collected items in their personal recycling bins or deliver the haul to a designated central location for weighing.

As a Tear Down & Clean Up volunteer, you are the finishing touch that ensures our community spaces return to their pristine condition. This is a high-energy, "behind-the-scenes" role perfect for someone who enjoys physical activity, working as part of a team, and seeing immediate results. You will work closely with City Staff to efficiently pack up event logistics and leave the venue better than we found it.

Vendor & Station Load-Out: Assist event staff and vendors with light breakdown of stations, which may include folding chairs, collapsing tables, and organizing supplies.

Site Restoration: Help clear event debris and ensure the festival grounds are tidy, safe, and ready for public use the following morning.

Signage & Decor Retrieval: Systematically collect event directional signs, banners, and autumn decorations from throughout the event space.

Logistical Support: Work with the team to load materials into transport vehicles or designated storage areas, ensuring everything is accounted for.

Thank you for your interest in keeping Carmel healthy and vibrant! As a volunteer for The Carmel Farmers Market, you are the heartbeat of the top-rated market in the state of Indiana. You will be helping provide fresh, Indiana grown/produced food to the community, while ensuring a vibrant experience for our 80+ vendors and thousands of weekly guests.

Choose Your Impact

Depending on your shift, you will be involved in the “behind-the-scenes” magic that makes the market run:

·         Set up & Logistics: Set up tents, set up tables & chairs for our guests to listen to live music, while enjoying breakfast, set out trash cans, put out signage and help vendors as needed.

·         Information Booth: Work in the middle of Carter Green as a “Market Ambassador.” You will answer questions, assist vendors and guests and be ready to sub for a volunteer that needs a break.

·         Liaison: Seven or eight volunteers are needed to count and greet incoming guests. You will have a market map in case guests need assistance.

·         Floater: Six volunteers are needed to walk around the market, making sure that everything is running smoothly, answer questions, make sure that walkways remain clear and accessible and be additional “eyes” for the Market Manager.

·         Market Tear-Down: Collect and pack up all market equipment on the appropriate trailer, empty trash cans and store everything back in the garage for next Saturday.

As a General Support volunteer, you are the "engine" that keeps our community events running smoothly. This is a dynamic role perfect for someone who enjoys variety, staying active, and interacting with the public. You will work closely with City Staff to ensure guests have a seamless experience and logistics are handled in real-time.

Late Night on Main is Carmel’s premier outdoor concert series and block party. When the sun goes down, the heart of the Arts & Design District transforms into a high-energy street festival. Organized by Carmel PorchFest Inc., the event features a massive main stage with live regional bands, local food trucks, late-night shopping, and a vibrant "party in the street" atmosphere that draws thousands of residents and visitors.

Infrastructure & Access: Assisting with the rapid setup of barricades and signage to secure the concert perimeter.

Guest Experience: Managing the VIP lounge, providing directions to the Monon Greenway, and assisting with the "Bike Valet" for those cycling to the show.

Vendor Support: Helping local food trucks and merchants navigate the crowded streets and managing beverage station logistics.

District Stewardship: Helping with "Strike" (cleanup) at 11:00 PM to ensure Main Street is pristine and ready to reopen for morning traffic.

This isn’t your average "sit behind a desk" volunteer gig. You’ll be on the move, ensuring our guests have a fantastic experience while gathering the insights we need to keep Carmel world-class.

The Vibe Curator: Greet guests with a smile and assist with wayfinding or general event questions to keep the "festive vibes" going.

The Feedback Specialist: Engage with attendees to collect quick digital or paper surveys. Your mission is to capture the community's voice in the middle of the action!

The Logistics Hero: Jump in with quick supply runs—whether it's restocking brochures, grabbing extra pens, or helping coordinate materials between event stations.

Problem Solver: Help maintain the flow of the event by spotting needs before they become issues.

As a Tear Down & Clean Up volunteer, you are the finishing touch that ensures our community spaces return to their pristine condition. This is a high-energy, "behind-the-scenes" role perfect for someone who enjoys physical activity, working as part of a team, and seeing immediate results. You will work closely with City Staff to efficiently pack up event logistics and leave the venue better than we found it.

Vendor & Station Load-Out: Assist event staff and vendors with light breakdown of stations, which may include folding chairs, collapsing tables, and organizing supplies.

Site Restoration: Help clear event debris and ensure the festival grounds are tidy, safe, and ready for public use the following morning.

Signage & Decor Retrieval: Systematically collect event directional signs, banners, and autumn decorations from throughout the event space.

Logistical Support: Work with the team to load materials into transport vehicles or designated storage areas, ensuring everything is accounted for.

As an Event Set-Up volunteer, you are the architect of the festival’s first impression. This role is essential for transforming an empty space into a vibrant community celebration. If you are an early bird who enjoys seeing a project come to life from the ground up, this is the perfect position for you. You will work alongside City Staff to ensure every tent, table, and sign is perfectly in place before the first guest arrives.

Venue Preparation: Assist with the placement of tables, chairs, and pop-up tents according to the event site map.

Signage Installation: Help set up directional signs, banners, and promotional materials to ensure smooth guest flow.

Vendor Support: Greet arriving vendors and artists, helping them locate their designated booth spaces and providing light assistance with unloading if needed.

Decor & Aesthetics: Help distribute autumn-themed decorations and floral arrangements to create a festive atmosphere throughout the event grounds.

We offer a variety of roles across the race weekend. Select the area that best fits your energy and skills:

The Motivator (Water Stations): Keep the energy high and the runners hydrated. This is a perfect role for groups—play music, wear costumes, and cheer on participants as they pass your station.

The Welcoming Committee (Expo & Packet Pickup): Be the first face runners see! Help hand out bibs and race shirts at the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel on the Friday before the race.

The Finisher Crew (Medals & Roses): There’s no better feeling than awarding a finisher. Celebrate their achievement by handing out medals and the signature post-race roses at the finish line.

The Course Guardian (Course Marshal): Ensure the safety of our runners by directing them at key turns and intersections throughout Carmel’s beautiful parks and trails.

The Logistics Lead (Set-up & Tear-down): Help us build the "race city." From setting up the finish line arch to organizing the post-race party area in Civic Square, you are the backbone of the event.

The Lead Cyclist: If you’re an experienced biker, lead our top runners through the course to ensure they have a clear path to the finish line.

As a General Support volunteer, you are the "engine" that keeps our community events running smoothly. This is a dynamic role perfect for someone who enjoys variety, staying active, and interacting with the public. You will work closely with City Staff to ensure guests have a seamless experience and logistics are handled in real-time.

Guest Direction: Act as a friendly face for the City of Carmel, helping attendees navigate the event space and find amenities (restrooms, first aid, stage locations).

Crowd & Line Management: Assist at high-traffic areas, such as food trucks or activity booths, to ensure lines remain organized and safe.

Event Logistics: Support staff with light errands, such as delivering supplies to different stations or distributing programs/schedules.

Operational Support: Be "on-call" for miscellaneous tasks as they arise, ensuring that any small hurdles are cleared quickly.
